Catalyst Technology for Advanced Use of Energy and Environmental Impact Reduction

Overview

Osaka Gas developed its catalyst technology when the company produced city gas from petroleum-based raw materials. The company currently utilizes that catalyst technology for advanced use of energy by fuel cell systems and for reducing environmental impact arising from various combustion equipment.

Examples of Practical Application

For the conversion of city gas to hydrogen, the household fuel cell system Ene-Farm has a fuel reformer, which uses a desulfurization catalyst and a steam reforming catalyst developed by Osaka Gas. The company has also developed a reforming catalyst of a large particle size for use in large hydrogen production systems.
In addition, the three-way catalyst developed by the company for gas engines has high performance and durability and supports the high environmental friendliness of cogeneration systems.

Future Plans

To support the comfortable lifestyles of our customers while responding to demands for energy conservation and environmental impact reduction, we are also working on technology development toward carbon-neutral society, such as methanation technology for producing e-methane from renewable energy and recovered CO2.
