Combustion and Heat Transfer Simulation Technology for Industrial Furnace Design Support

Overview

Osaka Gas is working on developing and utilizing simulation technology to assist the design of glass melting furnaces, various heating furnaces, melting furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, and the like, aiming for high efficiency and low environmental impact.

Features

・Simulation for proposing energy-saving solutions: By simulating the temperature rise of objects to be heated, we suggest solutions, including a more efficient and energy-saving operation method.

・Glass melting furnace: The entire melting furnace is optimized through simulation-based support for the development of a nozzle structure and a burner tile shape for obtaining a desirable temperature distribution and by finding operation conditions and furnace geometry that align glass product quality and energy savings through simulation covering up to the flow of molten glass.

・Burner development support: For the development of a new burner, we use simulations to optimize the nozzle structure and exhaust heat recovery mechanism, enabling both the development of a high-performance burner and the shortening of the development process.

Future Plans

We intend to improve the reliability of simulations by further strengthening the linkage between simulations and experiments (measurements), to expand the applicable fields, to develop even more efficient burners with low environmental impact, and to promote engineering support for various industrial furnaces.
